Finland

Sat in the sunshine on the waterfront in Helsinki after an utterly bizarre ferry crossing from Stockholm where we'd been parked for what seemed like an aeon, at least. One cannot begin to describe the forms of musical entertainment provided by Viking Line on the SS Gabriella, presumably tailored to ease our eighteen-hour passage across the Baltic, so I won't bother. Vincent summed it up perfectly though with the question, "have we taken drugs without realising it?" Both John and Les raised the karaoke bar by several notches with fine renditions of Elvis Presley and Tom Jones numbers respectively, leaving subsequent hapless performers to appear hackneyed and amateurish by comparison. The photograph shows Les sporting correct head and eye-wear as recommended for such a voyage.

Awesome blog. As was Anathema's gig tonight at Nosturi. Or actually it was way beoynd awesome - simply, the best gig ever.

No instrument or sounds problems tonight. Band played for about 2h 10min. Set list included Sleepless, Anyone, Anywhere, A Fine Day to Exit, Universal etc. Guys played two encores that they hadn't planned beforehand. Songs (Shroud of False and Fragile Dreams) for first encore guys decided backstage. For the second encore they asked suggestions from us - first one was brilliant 666 impromptu :)(someone shouted 666 from crowd and guys just started playing 666 song), second was Panic and when Vince already thought that they aren't allowed to play any longer Danny started playing first strings from A Dying Wish. And we (crowd) went wild!

Thanks for the band and the whole crew for this unforgettable evening.

Thank you so much for the gigs in Finland!! The one in Helsinki was simply amazing, the atmosphere was wonderful and so emotional.. just overwhelming.. The first half or so of the gig in Tampere was also incredibly intensive and energetic and beautiful.. too bad that Danny was so tired that night.. Please come again soon, there are many of us here who love your music and you and want you back!
